IMPORT-EXPORT, AN ESSENTIAL PILLAR OF DEVELOPMENT

Burundi will soon have a modern laboratory to test products for import and export. This was announced by the Right Honorable Speaker of the National Assembly on Saturday, February 10, 2024, during a meeting of Kayanza province natives, organized with the intention of taking stock of the previous year’s achievements and presenting the outlook for the New Year.

Since certification of products for import-export is a prerequisite for the realization of Vision 2040-2060, the Right Honorable Daniel Gelase Ndabirabe called on the Government to double its efforts to get this certification. Moreover, he emphasized, to put arable plots of land together is the objective to achieve in the agriculture, livestock and environment sector. To increase production, he called on local authorities to identify agricultural areas and determine precisely how many arable plots of land have been set aside. In this way, there would be some areas for export projects, and others for small-scale projects to grow products for local consumption. Of course, this requires organization and planning," he pointed out.

With regard to production management, the Speaker of the Lower Chamber of Burundian Parliament emphasized that all production ministries must give their respective production to the ministry in charge of trade, which in turn divides it up into products for processing, trading or export.
Of course, development and security go hand in hand. The Right Honorable Gelase Daniel Ndabirabe made a vibrant appeal to the people of Kayanza to preserve security and remain vigilant against the enemies of Burundi. He stressed that security can never be totally guaranteed. He also asked for people of kayanza to support Radio Ubuzima FM, a radio station that makes a major contribution to the development of Kayanza province.

During the meeting, which gathered the natives of Kayanza, the Governor of the province, Colonel Rémy Cishahayo, gave an overview of all sectors of life of the province, such as peace and security, education, socio-political life, justice, as well as agriculture, livestock and the environment.
In terms of future prospects, he presented good projects for Kayanza province. These include the road paving, the asphalting of national road N⁰ 22 (RN22 : Rwegura-Kabarore-Buvumo), the construction of a Governor’s residence, the creation of a university in Matongo and the establishment of a Ngozi University campus.
After the meeting, the natives of the province shared a drink wishing each other all the best for 2024 year.
