The Muhanga commune located in Kayanza province is characterized by its hard-working population and shows promising indicators for a favorable harvest during the cropping season A. Self-criticism, particularly for those whose harvest was unsatisfactory this season, is proving to be an effective tool for judicious planning for the cropping season B. This was the message delivered by the Honorable Abel Gashatsi, Second Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, in his speech to the people of Muhanga at the end of community development work carried out on Saturday January 13, 2024, on the road linking the commune of Muhanga to that of Ruhororo in the province of Ngozi.
Addressing the population of Kayanza province in general, and those of the Rango and Muhanga communes in particular, the Honorable Abel Gashatsi expressed his satisfaction with the observation he made on his way to the chief town of Muhanga commune. He noted the good development of the marshes in these two communes, a solid indicator of the successful implementation of the policy of practicing block farming in order to increase agricultural production. He urged the people of Muhanga to keep a jealous eye on their harvests, and to maintain the same dynamic of growth in agricultural production for the upcoming B cropping season, in order to guarantee their individual development and that of the country as a whole. Community solidarity and responsibility for the education of children, the country’s future leaders, were also highlighted in his speech.
After these community activities in the commune and zone of Muhanga, Abel Gashatsi went to Muramvya province, where he took part in ceremonies to share a happy new year with elderly and most vulnerable people in the Mbuye commune, during which aid was distributed to these people.
