The Second Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Honorable Abel Gashatsi, participated in community development work in the Gashikanwa commune in the Ngozi province on Saturday, November 25, 2023. The work involved paving a meeting room in the commune.

During his speech, he urged the population to consolidate land and cultivate the same crops, plant fruit trees such as avocado trees and other agroforestry plants for environmental protection, especially during this period of heavy rains. He also encouraged the cultivation of export products such as coffee, which has long helped Burundian families.

Honorable Abel Gashatsi reminded the population that the year is coming to an end and urged everyone to avoid mismanagement of their belongings during the end-of-year festivities, keeping in mind that life continues after these celebrations. He advised them to abandon the practice of polygamy and adopt family planning, while avoiding excessive spending, in order to achieve sustainable development.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, he also visited the enclosures housing rabbit farming in the commune, a practice implemented by the Government as part of the small livestock breeding promotion program. To conclude the day’s activities, He also took the opportunity to visit the commune’s rabbit breeding pens, a practice implemented by the government as part of its program to promote small livestock breeding.
