The Second Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, the Honorable Abel Gashatsi, gave a helping hand to community development work focusing on the cleaning of gutters on both sides of the road located in the Il de la colline social district and Cibitoke zone in the Rugombo commune of Cibitoke province. It was Saturday August 12, 2023.

The Governor of the Cibitoke province, Col. of Police Carême Bizoza, was delighted by the presence of the Honorable Second Deputy Speaker of the Lower Chamber of the Burundi Parliament at the above-mentioned works. He pointed out that the gutters were completely blocked, to the extent that traffic during the approaching rainy season would be virtually impossible. For this reason, the administration has decided to concentrate all its efforts on cleaning them out. Col. of Police Bizoza called on local residents to get involved in the work, before winking at those who had built illegally and exceeded the limits to demolish them. Those who fail to obey the rule will be punished," he insisted.

Addressing the audience, the Honorable Abel Gashatsi emphasized the importance of cleaning out the gutters before it rains, which will facilitate traffic flow in the area, since the water will be well channeled.

The Second Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly also invited the population of Cibitoke province to remain serene and vigilant in safeguarding peace and security, given that the province shares the border with Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, which are currently hostile countries. You are called upon," he says, "to work in quadrilogy to eradicate any criminals who may be coming from border localities. If you suspect someone, you must notify the appropriate authorities, including the administration and security agents, as soon as possible, so that they can set up investigations".

The Second Deputy Speaker of the Lower Chamber of Burundi Parliament urged pupils on vacation to help their parents by engaging in various household and income-generating activities, which would contribute to the purchase of school materials and provide for other vital needs. According to him, vacations are a change of activities, not just a time to rest.

The Honorable Gashatsi also thanked the people of Cibitoke for farming during the summer season. This is an eloquent sign," he emphasized, "that you have understood the policy of His Excellency President Evariste Ndayishimiye to increase production, so that every mouth has food and every pocket money. To this end, Abel Gashatsi, accompanied by the Governor of the province, visited the cornfields sown in the Nyakagunda marshland in the commune of Rugombo.
