A peaceful heart; a peaceful country

Forgiveness sets free both those who ask for it and those who give it. This is the perspective that the Truth and Reconciliation Commission is aiming at during the testimonial gathering stage. Those were the remarks made by the Speaker of the National Assembly during the Sunday service on June 4, 2023 at the Pentecost Church in Maramvya, in Mbirizi zone of Gatara commune in Kayanza province. Telling the truth, added the Right Honorable Gelase Daniel Ndabirabe, brings peace not only to those who tell it, but also to the whole country. Indeed, he argued, such openness will undoubtedly lead to reconciliation. He took the opportunity to warn anyone who would venture to falsely accuse someone.

The Speaker of the National Assembly was in fact extrapolating the day’s teachings.
Pastor Domitien Rukushi spoke about the genesis of sin from the time of creation, when the serpent used trickery to deceive Eve. Eve in turn misled her husband, Adam. The cities of Sodom and Gomorrah misled each other, whereas of the 600,000 Jews who went into exile from Egypt, only two managed to arrive safely. The Bible also states that the punishment for sin is death. But the good news is that Jesus Christ was crucified for the redemption of mankind.

As for Pastor Jacques Banyikwa, repentance should be the hallmark of every Christian who is also fighting for loyalty of heart. Language and actions tell us about the spiritual condition of a person. Those who are indwelt by the Holy Spirit sow love, joy and understanding around them, while those possessed by the evil spirit are jealous. Nevertheless, he said, the gospel of prosperity, which promises wonders, should be banished in favour of the teaching of Jesus Christ, which is a kind of reference point.
