"Community development work brings us together as brothers and sisters from the same homeland. If we come together in this way, God will reward our efforts, for He created the world and gave it to man to make it better’’. The Speaker of the National Assembly, the Right Honorable Gelase Daniel Ndabirabe stated, Saturday, April 29, 2023, during his speech addressed to the population of Bujumbura city in Ntahangwa commune, after joining them during the cleaning of gutters and clearing of the brush of the national road No 5 Bujumbura-Nyamitanga.
The Minister of Home Affairs, Community Development and Public Security, Hon. Martin Niteretse, the MPs elected in Bujumbura Mayorship, as well as the National Secretaries of the ruling party, CNDD-FDD, were among participants in the community development work.
Nowadays that Burundi is hosting many distinguished visitors, including a strong delegation of Heads of States and Governments expected next week, the airport road must be well cleaned, as it reflects the image of the country. Also, with the legendary hospitality of the Burundian people, everything must be in order for the visitors to feel at ease.
The brothers and sisters of the same nation must therefore live in harmony, proceeded the Right Honorable Gelase Daniel Ndabirabe, while reminding the audience of the missions of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, among which are to bring out the truth in view of an effective reconciliation of Burundians, putting an end to the painful past. The Right Honorable Speaker of the National Assembly invited anyone who has information on the events that have plunged the country into mourning to submit it to the commission.
To wrap up, the Right Honorable Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament also invited Burundians to learn to ask for and give forgiveness, and to prepare for a good ending: "The deceits of wealth may have a reassuring appearance for those who idolize it, but it is only a fake happiness".
