"The country is built by its own citizens’’
These are the patriotic words pronounced by the Rt. Hon. Gelase Daniel Ndabirabe at the end of the community development work of April 22, 2023 which consisted in unstacking the kiln of baked bricks intended for the construction of the Higher Polytechnic Institute of Kayanza (ISPKA) located on Ruganza hill in Matongo commune of Kayanza. He complimented the population of Matongo for its massive participation in community development work, an irrefutable sign of change of mindset. He was in the company of MPs elected in the constituency of Kayanza and the native officials of that province.
Speaking about the new administrative division of Burundi which will be carried out from 2025, the Speaker of the National Assembly pointed out that the Matongo Commune will keep its name and will be composed of two communes: Butaganzwa and Gatara including a part of Bugarama and Bukeye commune.
In order to better fit with the national development policy, the current manual of CDCPs (Community Development Communal Plans) will be revised to be in line with the new ideas coming out of the 2nd National Development Forum in Burundi held respectively from April 20 to 21, 2023 and whose vision is to make Burundi an emerging country by 2040 and a developed country by 2060. The Speaker of the National Assembly invited the population to remain peaceful and practice a healthy diet in order to benefit from the first fruits of that expected development.
The Right Honorable Gelase Daniel Ndabirabe, Speaker of the National Assembly, further reminded his audience that the main mission of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, is to ’bring Burundians back to effective reconciliation’. Forgiveness and reconciliation are part of the fabric of human existence. They reach men and women of all age levels and peoples of all cultures. And he insisted on asking for and granting forgiveness. "Forgiveness frees you from the past and empowers you to reveal your true potential. A forgiving person is always much easier to live with than a person who does not forgive. Forgiveness is a very practical and useful tool," he said.
