In accordance with Art. 168 paragraph 4 of the Constitution of the Republic of Burundi, the Parliament met in congress on Friday, August 12, 2022 at the Congress Palace of Kigobe to evaluate the report on the implementation of the Government’s program for the 2nd semester, 2021-2022 presented by the Police General Alain Guillaume Bunyoni, Prime Minister of the Republic of Burundi. He stressed that this report covered all activities carried out by the 15 ministries for the period from January 1st to June 30, 2022.

According to the table summarizing the achievements of the various ministries, the average implementation rate is 90%. The results obtained by the 15 ministries of the Burundian Government vary between 75%-100%. Of these, five ministries scored 95% or higher. The Ministry of Solidarity, Gender and the Human Person occupies the first place with 100% of its completions while the Ministry of National Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research comes in second place with 98.1%.

The MPs raised their concerns about the rising prices of various necessities observed in these days as well as their shortage. To all these questions, the Prime Minister, Police General Alain Guillaume Bunyoni said that the shortage of sugar, cement and Brarudi products is linked to the growing population of Burundi while production remains almost static.

He invited the population to intensify production by multiplying plants. As for the fuel shortage, he said that it is a global phenomenon and took the opportunity to call on Burundians to stand firm and invited them to manage wisely the little there is, while waiting for the solution to be found in a few days while promising that the Government is making every effort to find possible way out.
