GIHANGA FACING THE CLIMATE CHANGE : A DELICATE BALANCE BETWEEN GOOD AND EVIL

Good coexists with evil, even if there are those who mistakenly believe that evil always comes from Satan, when in fact it may be God’s plan to set men right.

This is the analysis of the Speaker of the National Assembly in the context of the presentations by the Gihanga communal administrator, Mr Léopold Ndayisaba, and the Governor of Bubanza province, Mr Cléophas Nizigiyimana, at the end of the community development work that took place on Saturday January 13, 2024 in Gihanga commune, Bubanza province.

At a time when the head of the host commune was hoping for a good harvest despite the torrential rains that destroyed nearly one thousand five hundred (1,500) houses, the Governor of Bubanza pointed the finger at people of bad faith who were spreading rumors on social networks of an attack by infiltrators, who were allegedly lodged in the villages.

It is said that "every cloud has a silver lining". This is the understanding of the Speaker of the Lower Chamber of the Burundian Parliament when he explained that evil moves us forward. Dichotomy, the cohabitation of good and evil, provides a kind of balance.

Everyone, he recalled, was warned about these climatic hazards. Weather forecasts predicted heavy rainfall (the El Nino phenomenon) in and around Tanzania. God forbid that these torrential rains should have claimed any human lives. This natural calamity, he hoped, would materialize the maxim of the late President Pierre Nkurunziza, who invited people to get to work while praying and pray while getting to work: "dukore dusenga; dusenge dukora"

As for the imaginary attack, let them venture into the country. They would be well received," he reassured while lamenting the children and elderly who perished in the attack at the end of last year in Gatumba. Instead of confronting the soldiers, they attacked the defenseless innocents. They even claimed responsibility for this despicable act.

In addition, the Speaker of the National Assembly recalled that the life of a single person is worth living, but when an individual sacrifices himself in the interests of a group or his country, even at the cost of his own life, he becomes a hero and goes to heaven. Everyone will remember that such a person ended his or her earthly career on a high note.

The day’s work concerned the rehabilitation of the road linking the RN9 and RN5 national roads to their respective junctions with the Rugunga and Gihungwe villages, via Ndava-Busongo, Buramata and Kizina.

The plan to macadamize the road has been in place since 2018, to the disappointment of the local population, who were counting on the Mudubugu military camp, one of the most renowned in the country.
